This coming Monday, 16 December, from 10:30 to 18:00, at the headquarters of the united Left (Calle Olimpo 35, Madrid), the Academic Network will be introduced. The Academic Network is a project of Transform! Europe, an organization in which the Foundation for Marxist Studies and the Foundation for a Europe of the Citizens participate.
Transform! Europe is a European network for alternative thinking and political dialogue, made up of 23 organisations and 17 countries, that works in the field of political education and critical scientific analysis.
Within the projects carried out by this network, one of the topics most urgently considered is the construction of intellectual dynamics of a political sort that are oriented toward the construction of a new cultural hegemony that permits a rupture with neoliberal logic. For this, the encouragement and deepening of the cooperation between the academics of the European left is essential. Thus, Transform! want to mobilise their resources with the end of promoting a new and fruitful intellectual and academic cooperation.
It is to this end that the “Academic Network” has been created. It deals with a project begun in March of 2012 with the objective of creating a European network of leftist academics, organized fundamentally by thematic areas. A virtual platform (a sort of limited-access internet), through which the academics can interact, share information/publications, and develop common projects, is being built. Additionally, we hope to compile a base of academic and intellectual data organized by areas of knowledge and accessible to social and political activists (of the European left and its different territorial levels).
